The next logical step for LPN is to become RN after she/he has worked for few years in a clinical or hospital setting. Because you already achieved your hands on training by working as LPN, you can take classes online to get your RN degree. You will still need to pass the NCLEX RN after you finish all of your online classes.
Some of the LPN opt for BSN degree right away and not bother to take classes to advance as RN. This is simply because now a day, or at least a trend started in the 2009, most hospitals and other health care organizations prefer RN to have BSN degree before they can be promoted to higher paying positions.
It will take about 12 to 16 months for LPN to complete their RN classes.
